I have now started working again on The Right Place, my third novel. I still have a few things to add to the plot and characters' descriptions but I am now almost ready to start writing.
There is still a lot of research to do, accommodation and financing to sort out, but in my head, if I start writing, then the rest will fall into place eventually - or not. I wouldn't want material issues to come in the way of the writing - but they will inevitably do so.
Of course, I really should be in Dorset. I will try and find somewhere to stay over the next few months, but it is likely to be short stays at first, although I am contemplating the possibility of a winter let between November and February next year. I will start looking at all this in the spring.
Yesterday, I sent a detailed brief to the artist Sam Cannon who, after a meeting in autumn 2013, had agreed to do the artwork for the cover. Sam is a local West Dorset artist and is therefore the best person for the job. You can see her wonderful work HERE.
I hope to be able to show you the artwork in the Summer - Sam is very busy - and I will produce some promotional flyers and posters using the image when I have it!
Meanwhile, my favourite designer/typesetter, Matt ArtPix, has been working on the font for the cover title. We're almost there! We will probably need to tweak it anyway once we have the artwork. But the title font needs to be quite simple as the cover will be very rich and busy.
New Year, New book... It is at the same time exciting and scary.
I have changed the publishing schedule a little and I now have a September 2017 publication date, which might still be too optimistic.
Let's see how it goes...
I think therefore I write.
